I feel a little sorry for December babies. Especially those whose birthdays are closer to the 25th, e.g. the 19th, Joe's birthday. I felt so guilty (like I do every year) when It kept slipping my mind because all that seems to be on my mind (and everyone else's) is Christmas. I'm not the only one. I had to remind the birthday boy himself the day before that it was his birthday... "oh yeah, it is. I forgot! " was his reply. So Joe's birthday having landed on a Monday this year (another curse), the kids and I got busy making our favourite daddy his favourite treat- a chocky birthday cake to be ready for when he got home from work.
El was so sweet and insisted we use her pocket money (a grand total of $3) to buy the ingredients for the cake. She would not take "no" for an answer and she also insisted that we buy him a present with that contribution... a water gun "daddy would love it!" she said. Unfortunately, the way things are priced these days, $3 was just not enough, and El eventually understood.
So here are my little bakers baking daddy's birthday cake. They made sure they had a taste test every step of the way. The next time we bake, I'm sure Noah won't be too quick to taste test the coco powder, which he found very bitter of course :)
When daddy got home from work, we had a nice Mexican dinner of enchiladas (I forgot the tacos!) and than we enjoyed the tasty chocky cake!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
