My 5 year old!

I know this post is a little late, almost a whole month late, but look who's a big 5 (more like 15) year old girl now...

I still can't believe I'm the mother of a FIVE year old! Personally, I think I look too young and good to be so (ha! that's what old and sleep deprived looking mothers (me) tell themselves). But its true, she's  five now, and she sure lets everyone know it!

Being so sleep deprived, I was thinking that this year we would do a special family only thing and spoil her with a really nice gift. However,  El had been planning her 5th birthday party since... let me think?... the day after she turned 4! Not to mention, that now that she's a school girl, with school friends, she was just so excited to have her first real birthday party. So my simple family only plan changed. Instead, I  found myself staying up late and finding all things 'Barbie' online,  in preparation for a all girly Barbie party.

So we invited all the girls from her class, and had ourselves a lovely time at her Barbie themed party...

The girls making their custom made princess barbie crowns to wear

Jada (El's best friend in the whole wide world) modelling her  crown

They also made pretty necklaces and had their nails painted with sparkly pink nail polish (forgot to take pic) to complete their princess barbie look.
Tuliena, Nikita, Terieha-Eve, Kaitlin, Jada, El and Tayla (Jara'Kiah was still getting her nails painted) all lining up and getting ready to play 'pin the sunglasses on Barbie' game.

playing the classic 'pass the parcel' game that was followed by a team barbie puzzle challenge (again, forgot to take pic).

Enjoying the tasty party food...
Me- enjoying the party food a little too much (party planning makes you extremely hungry).

blowing out the candles on her Barbie cake...

Taylor giving her a hand

Checking out the party bags complete with all the things a barbie princess needs... sunnies, lip gloss rings, jewellery, bubble wands, and candy!
A very happy girl at the end of the day, with all her lovely gifts!
And in honour of the wonderful 5 years you have given us Elly Belly, here are 5 things daddy and I LOVE about you...

1. How confident and independent you are. Your  sense of independence exceeds your five years of age. You would walk to school all on your own if I'd let you!

2. Your sense of humour. You crack us up with the witty things you say.

3. You're a good friend, so loyal and caring. You make friends so easily.

4. You are so clever and inquisitive. You've always been a step ahead of everything. We and we love that you love to learn.

5. You took one for the team (your brothers) and taught us how to be parents and made us better people for it. You taught us how to truly love the day, five years ago, that you entered this world.

Hope we made your 5th birthday as special as you!

  1. 5 already! That's insane. Wish we could have been there. And I feel horrible for letting it pass without wishing her a happy Birthday. But seriously, how does one keep up with it all when they have 13 nieces and nephews to keep track off???
